Recommended Professionals
Often I am asked who I recommend in the ‘animal care’ industry and therefore I have included below the professionals who I trust and know are correctly qualified to help your animals.
Alice Watts at Education4Paws is a qualified and experienced animal trainer and behaviourist. Alice has a keen interest in pain-related behaviours and is quick off the mark to spot when there is a medical component contributing to their behaviour.
We have been working together with dogs who have shown signs of pain and who are often difficult to assess within a clinical veterinary environment. By working as a team, we have managed to help many dogs with firstly assessing where the pain is coming from, managing the pain and re-training the dogs behavioural changes which were associated with pain.
Additionally Alice runs workshops for reactive dogs, nervous dogs, puppy training and offers bespoke behaviour packages.
I myself have used Alice to help with my own dogs. I asked Alice to help me prepare my 4 dogs ahead of the arrival of our new baby. Alice came out and spent over 2hrs talking through strategy and ensuring we had a plan in place to keep our baby safe and our dogs comfortable during the process of adjusting to new life. Following Alice's session I have been thoroughly supported through follow-up calls and messages regarding the dogs progress. The training has been really fun, and I feel like my bond with the dogs is even stronger than before. I would not feel comfortable with my new baby coming home without Alice's expert advice and help. I have also attended Alice's class 'Dogwarts' with my nervous and reactive collie. Alice made me feel very comfortable in the session and we learnt new tricks which were really fun and engaging. I hope to do more classes with Alice in the future.
I would highly recommend Alice at Education4Paws for anyone who is looking for help with: Behavioural issues, pre-baby prep, general fun training and anything dog-related. Alice is an excellent dog advocate.
Both myself and Alice can provide an alternative holistic care package for clients to ensure that their medical needs are being addressed alongside behavioural needs.

Katy Conway - Time for Pooch
Katy Conway is a canine massage therapist and Whole Energy Body Balance (WEBB) practitioner for pets. Katy runs a clinic at her home in Hickling nr Melton Mowbray. Massage can be a brilliant addition to animals alternative therapy programmes at any age. Canine massage involves the manipulation of soft tissue to alleviate chronic muscular pain, aid with injury rehabilitation and improve canine mobility and overall wellbeing.
It can help alleviate your dog’s physical discomfort, promote faster healing, and enhance their overall mobility. By calming their nervous system, it can also address underlying emotional issues that may be contributing to behavioural problems, making them happier and more well-adjusted pets
Often Katy will refer animals for physiotherapy when there is an element of ‘deep pain’ causing the dog to not settle as well in massage sessions. We will work together to manage the dogs pain and improve the dogs musculoskeletal health.
I myself refer clients to Katy to help with anxiety, stress and who need additional manual treatment to support their physiotherapy.

Carole Parsons offers acupuncture to small animals within the comfort of your own home. Many animals can benefit from acupuncture, from rabbits and cats to dogs.
Acupuncture is also often used to treat musculoskeletal conditions (of the bones and muscles) and pain conditions, including:
neck pain
osteoarthritis (joint pain)
muscular or ligament injuries
dental pain
postoperative pain
It can also be useful in spinal pain ( e.g. from a disc protrusion or collapse) and chronic medical conditions when conventional medicines have failed or are inadequate to control the patient’s symptoms. These conditions are often where the body’s own regulatory systems (known as homeostatic mechanisms) are working poorly, perhaps due to stress, or other ongoing illness.
Acupuncture treatment should always follow an accurate diagnosis of the problem and a full appraisal of all treatment options. In many cases acupuncture is best used in conjunction with conventional medicine however, in some situations, it can be used as a sole treatment. Adding acupuncture to a treatment plan can help to reduce the patient’s requirements for medications which may have undesirable side effects.
Most importantly, acupuncture is extremely safe when practised correctly and is well accepted by the majority of animals.
